JCI QUEBEC CONGRESS 2016
REGRISTRATIONS OPEN FOR THE FIRST LARGE-SCALE “ELEVATOR PITCH” COMPETITION TO TAKE PLACE DURING THE LARGEST BUSINESS CONGRESS IN QUEBEC CITY
Quebec City, June 17, 2016 – The JCI world congress 2016 is proud to announce that registrations are officially open for the first ever World Elevator Pitch Competition, presented in collaboration with the Quebec City chamber of commerce and industry (CCIQ). Essentially, each entrepreneur or young leader who participates will go before their peers in an activity that will compel them into efficient communication. They will each have the chance to sell their business model or ideas to potential partners or investors. The registration period has already begun and will remain open until August 31.
“This competition really speaks to the audience we will see at the junior chambers’ world congress 2016, namely, credible and professional young entrepreneurs and young leaders from all backgrounds and from all around the world,” stated Alain Aubut, president and chief executive of the CCIQ. “We are glad to be a part of this competition because it highlights the impact that such an event can have on the futures of these young participants, and by extension, the next generation that we are fostering here in Quebec City.”
Between June 17 and August 31 2016, all members of Junior Chamber International (JCI) who will be attending the congress taking place in Quebec City this November are invited to create a short video of their “Elevator Pitch”. They will have 90 seconds to convince a panel of Quebec City entrepreneurs to choose them to be one of 24 semi finalists. These will later be whittled down to 8 lucky finalists who will prepare their pitches for the grand finale, with a little help from renowned entrepreneurs. The finals will take place in front of a jury comprised of congress participants on November 3. The winner will be announced that evening during the JCI Awards Ceremony.
The term “elevator pitch” came about as a result of the notion that it should be possible to state the major talking points of a presentation in the average time it takes an elevator to reach its destination, between thirty seconds and two minutes. Participants must therefore be quick and to the point.
